It’s been a white hot start for this Carolina hockey team. 8-0 for the first time in franchise history. First off let’s say that this is a Rod Brind’Amour coached team and anyone who knows how hard he trained as a play will get the feel that he’s transferred that same mentality to this team. They work hard, play defense, and score goals, this team has certainly taken on the Brind’Amour style of playing.

Having to start the season against the team everyone has picked to win this tough Metropolitan division, the New York Islanders, but have the advantage of starting the season at home. They trailed early, but that was it, once they took the lead from the Islanders they never trailed again, and won as home dogs against a well coached Islanders team. That was the start of this streak where they’ve beaten likes of Toronto, Boston, Nashville, Columbus, Montreal, and Arizona. In those 8 games only 2 have even been close, Nashville and Arizona, all the other games were won by 3 goals or more.

They’ve started off as hot as any team in the league, but the big test will come this Saturday when they face the undefeated Florida Panthers followed by Tampa Bay Lightning who defeated the Hurricanes in last years playoffs. I think this Carolina team is poised for a big season and see no reason why they don’t make another deep playoff run.
