Rookie Update: Makai Lemon - 6/4/2026
Newest Eagles WR Makai Lemon has certainly impressed at off-season training activities (OTAs) so far, as he has quickly developed positive chemistry within the offense, his route running meshes well with the offense, looking as good as it did in college, and his level of positivity and dedication to the team, including learning a brand new offense, hasn’t gone unnoticed by his coaches. However, it seems Lemon hit a speed bump that’ll put a temporary halt to his practice
According to various sources, including Bleeding Green Nation, Makai Lemon sat out Tuesday’s OTA sessions, sporting a sleeve on his right leg, dealing with a hamstring issue. The injury will keep him out for the rest of spring training, but fortunately, it does not appear to be significant, at least according to Eliot Shorr-Park of WIP Radio. Currently, there’s no specific details to the extent of the injury, but from the looks of it, it’s being viewed as mild. If I were to guess, I would assume it’d be a Grade 1 injury, which could mean a few days to a few weeks. With Lemon’s diverse level of talent, he may soon play a vital role, not only in the receiving game, but on special teams in the return game as well. Taking that into consideration, as well as the most recent history of Eagles’ hamstring injuries over the past couple seasons (think AJ Brown), it’s better to air on the side of caution, especially with time being on Lemon’s side. The Birds still have 3 months before Week 1, and the team’s going to want Makai healthy and ready to go.
