It is officially the end of the Dallas Cowboys 2021-22 season and may need to take a look at replacing their head coach after being upset by the San Francisco 49ers during Sunday’s playoff game.

This may be the window for Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to get current Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy out. Jones should take a look at some of the big names in the head coach circulation. One name I think Jones needs to take a hard look at is Jim Harbaugh.

Harbaugh currently has a 59-23 record coaching the Michigan Wolverines. Harbaugh is nearing the end of his deal in Michigan as it is set to expire in 2025. Could this be the time for Harbaugh to make his leap back into the NFL? Harbaugh has had plenty of success coaching the NFL even taking his last tenured team, which ironically enough was the 49ers, to the Super Bowl.

Harbaugh would be coming into a situation in Dallas where he has an established QB and plenty of offensive weapons and a great young core on defense.

There will be several teams trying to woo Harbaugh and his services to their team this off-season. However, the Cowboys roster could be just what it takes to get him in Dallas.

This year, Dallas has had some magical moments and some not so magical moments. Sunday was definitely not so magical for Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, as his team committed fourteen penalties in the game, which is second most in an NFL game- behind the Tennessee Titans in 2005.

Down six points with fifteen seconds left in the game and no timeouts, the Cowboys called a quarterback draw where quarterback Dak Prescott gained fifteen yards. The play put the Cowboys within striking distance from the endzone and punching their ticket to the Divisional round.

Once Prescott slid, the Cowboys rushed to the line of scrimmage to get the ball set for a quick spike to stop the clock. The rule in the NFL states that the umpire has to touch the ball before it is snapped. The umpire for Sunday’s game had trouble getting the spot of the ball and even bumped Prescott and the Cowboys’ center Tyler Biadasz, which took crucial seconds off the clock.

Many people may be looking at the refs and their mishandling of the situation, but Prescott and McCarthy need every bit of blame for this one. Instead of looking at the refs, let’s take a look at the mistake that piled on top of the Cowboys throughout the game.

It starts with taking fourteen penalties, Prescott being sacked five times, completing less than 60 percent of their passes, and giving up 170 yards to the 49ers rushing attack.
