Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins vs Springfield Thunderbirds 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs: Atlantic Division Finals Game 4
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins fall to the Springfield Thunderbirds 2-0 in Game 4 of the Atlantic Division Finals on Thursday night in Springfield.
The Penguins striked first just six minutes into the first period when Harrison Brunicke scored on a bar-down shot, but the goal was waived off following incidental contact with the goaltender.
Sergei Murashov was standing tall in the Penguins’ crease, turning away multiple grade-A scoring chances from the Thunderbirds until 16:14 of the second period, when Dillon Dube would score on the power-play to put the T-Birds up by 1. Marc-Andre Gaudet extended Springfields lead by two at 6:48 of the third period.
Despite pulling Murashov for the extra attacker, the Penguins were unable to solve Thunderbirds goaltender Georgii Romanov.
Romanov would collect his second shutout of the postseason, improving to 7-3 in the Calder Cup Playoffs. In the loss, Penguins goaltender Sergei Murashov would stop 30 of 32 shots faced and fell to 5-3 this postseason.
The Penguins and the Thunderbirds will play in a winner-takes-all Game 5 on Saturday night at Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza, with puck drop at 6:05 p.m.
