Fensore’s Overtime Heroics Lift Wolves Past Moose, 4–3

ROSEMONT, Ill. — October 25, 2025 The Chicago Wolves continued their impressive early-season form Saturday night, edging the Manitoba Moose 4–3 in overtime at Allstate Arena. Defenseman Domenick Fensore scored twice — including the game-winner just 34 seconds into overtime — to seal Chicago’s third win of the season and keep the club unbeaten in regulation.

First Period: Early Punch and Quick Response

Manitoba struck first midway through the opening period when Phil Di Giuseppe redirected a point shot from Danny Zhilkin, slipping the puck past Wolves goaltender Nikita Quapp for a 1–0 lead.

Chicago answered less than four minutes later. Big center Nikita Pavlychev corralled a loose puck in the slot, spun, and fired a high shot over the glove of Moose netminder Thomas Milic, evening the score at 1–1. The physical tone was set early as both clubs traded chances and checks in a lively first frame.

Second Period: Trading Blows

The Wolves capitalized on an early power play in the second. Fensore rifled a wrister from the left circle through traffic for his first of the night, giving Chicago a 2–1 advantage.

Manitoba roared back quickly. A turnover behind the Chicago net allowed David Gustafsson to find Walker Duehr, who buried a close-range chance to tie the game 2–2. Just two minutes later, Duehr struck again — this time finishing a setup from Jeff Malott to push the Moose ahead 3–2 heading into the final period.

Third Period: Young Gun Sparks a Comeback

The Wolves struggled to generate offense for much of the third, managing just five shots on goal. But one was all they needed to tie it. Rookie defenseman Dominik Badinka, just 19 years old, skated coast to coast and beat Milic glove-side for his first AHL goal, knotting the contest at 3–3 and electrifying the home crowd.

Overtime: Fensore Finishes the Job

Overtime didn’t last long. The Wolves controlled the puck off the opening draw, and Fensore found space in the high slot before snapping home his second goal of the night. The 34-second winner sent the bench spilling over the boards and secured another two points for Chicago.

Between the Pipes

Quapp turned aside 29 of 32 shots for the victory, including several key stops late in regulation. Milic finished with 24 saves in the loss. The Wolves improved to 3-0-1-0, while Manitoba fell to 0-5-0-1.
