Rising Stars Of The PWHL

Alex Carpenter-

Carpenter is a forward for the New York Sirens. She is currently leading the PWHL in Goals with five and points with 10. Carpenter currently serves as the alternate captain. 


She is a member of the United States Women’s National Team and was the first player drafted into the National Women’s Hockey League in 2015. She participated in the 2014 and 2022 Winter Olympics and earned a silver medal at both events. 


In 2015, Carpenter won the Patty Kazmaier award. This award is given to the top female college hockey player in the United States. This award is typically presented during the frozen four tournaments. In 2020, Carpenter was awarded the Zhenskaya Hockey League (ZhHL) MVP. During her collegiate career, she earned 155 goals and 136 assists in three years at Governor's Academy. While at Boston College, she recorded her 100th career point against UConn in her sophomore season. 

Claire Thompson-

Thompson is currently leading the PWHL in assists with nine for the Minnesota Frost. She did not play in the 2023-2024 season. Prior to turning professional, she completed four years at Princeton University. She played in a total of 129 games for Princeton and tallied 31 goals and 56 assists. She served as captain in her senior year.


In the 2020-2021 season, Thompson played four games for the PWHPA Toronto and gathered one assist. In the 2022-2023 season, she played in 20 games for the PWHPA Team Sonnet. She tallied two goals and four assists during the course of the season. 

Maddie Rooney-

Rooney is a goaltender for the Minnesota Frost. She is currently leading the PWHL in wins with five. Prior to turning professional, Rooney played five years at University of Minnesota-Duluth. She played in 122 games and averaged a 2.41 GAA and 0.922 save percentage. 


After her collegiate career ended, Rooney went on to play for PWHPA Team Adidas in the 2022-2023 season. She dressed in nine games and posted a 2.56 GAA and .911 save percentage. In the 2023-2024 season, Rooney dressed in 10 games for the PWHL Minnesota and averaged a 2.08 GAA and .915 save percentage. This year, she is between the pipes for the Minnesota Frost and has currently played six games for five wins and has a 1.98 GAA and .916 save percentage. 

Corinne Schroeder-

Schroeder is a netminder for the New York Sirens. She is currently leading the PWHL in save percentage (0.935) and goals against average (1.86). 


Prior to turning professional, Schroeder had a lengthy collegiate career. From the 2017 season to the 2020 season, Schroeder played four years at Boston University. She dressed in 91 games and averaged a 2.04 GAA and a 0.925 save percentage. She completed one year at Quinnipiac University, dressing in 29 games in the 2021-2022 season. She had a 1.44 GAA and .951 save percentage. 


Schroeder played one season in the Premier Hockey Federation for Boston Pride. She dressed in 22 games and tallied a 1.67 GAA and .955 save percentage. In the 2023-2024 season, Schroeder played for the PWHL New York and played in 15 games posting a 2.40 GAA and .930 save percentage. In the 2024-2025 season, Schroeder has played seven games and currently has a 1.86 GAA and .935 save percentage.
