Phillies Mariners Postgame

In an important series at Citizens Bank Park, J.T. Realmuto hit a clutch home run, and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Seattle Mariners, 6-4 to win the first two games of this series, as both teams continue their playoff push.

Philadelphia scored first, as Kyle Schwarber lined his 44th home run of the year, just over the right center field wall.

The Mariners tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third inning, as Randy Arozarena lined a double off the wall in left center field, that scored J.P. Crawford easily.

After Bryce Harper hit a sacrifice fly to make it 2-1, then it was J.T. who ripped a single to center field that scored Trea Turner, and made it 3-1.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, Bryson Stott took a high fastball, and hit it deep off the second deck sign in right field for his 8th home run of the year. So, you would think the game was in hand, however that was not the case.

In the top of the 7th inning, after Cristopher Sanchez walked Dylan Moore, he was pulled for Orion Kerkering. Well, then Kerkering walked the next two batters to load the bases, then after an RBI ground out by Julio Rodriguez, Seattle’s 3rd baseman, Eugenio Suarez, hit a double down the left field that scored two, and tied the game at 4-4. Sanchez, who had electric stuff, as he struck out 12 in 6 1/3 innings, picked up a no decision.

In the bottom of the 8th, Bryce Harper got a leadoff single, which setup Realmuto, who got a first pitch fastball by Mariners reliever, Matt Brash, and hit a no doubter to left center field. Realmuto’s 9thhome run of the year, made it 6-4. Since July 1, Realmuto is batting .346.

Then, it was Jhoan Duran time, as 12 pitches later, which ended with Duran striking out Cal Raleigh to end the game, and give the Phillies the victory.

Up next for Phillies

The Phillies will close out the series tomorrow, as Jesus Luzardo will take the mound for Philadelphia, and he will face the Mariners’ Luis Castillo. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m.
