Olde City Sports Network- By: Jesse Bell

Olde City Sports Network is an array of live shows, which are all converted into podcasts on Anchor.fm. The hosts and co-host for each show stretch from different parts of the United States and into Canada. In the following article, I will explain the experiences, trials and tribulations our young network has gone through, the vision, the goal and a proper introduction of the talent on our network.

The Birth of a Network

OCSN wasn’t always called Olde City Sports Network in fact, it was called GPS, Greater Philadelphia Sports Network. For obvious reasons, the name needed to be changed due to the acronym brought up some copyright infringement issues early on. The issue was caught early enough that it could be changed before making a big stink with anything that would make a costly impact but very early on, OCSN learned that the world of networks and podcasts wasn’t what it was portrayed to be. That realization took a costly toll, a league wide Montreal based hockey show, a wrestling show and a Philadelphia 4 for 4 sports show would fall off of the network. 2 of them still in good graces with us and one day may return, but one will not.

There would be a light at the end of the tunnel though for the rookie podcasters as new members and broadened leadership made for steering the ship in the right direction. So without further adieu, I think some introductions are in order… Introducing, The Olde City Sports Network’s line up of shows and anchors…

Flyers Alley

Flyers Alley is the flagship show on OCSN. The first show on the network, they got lucky landing interviews with Former Phantoms enforcer Frank “The Animal” Bialowas, NWHL’s Metropolitan Riveter goalie Samantha Walther, Connecticut Whale forward Sarah Hughson, Former Flyer and Phantom left winger Taylor Leier. The Luck would continue, as they landed Former Flyer Enforcer and Calder Cup Champion, Riley Cote. This would lead to Flyers Alley landing it’s first official sponsor in Bodychek Wellness, which eventually lead to a network wide sponsorship. Things picked up to a solid plateau, as the Flyers made it to the 2nd round in a bubbled playoff season and falling short in a 2020/21 season ravaged by covid 19 complications. The Sky’s the limit when it comes to Flyers Alley and OCSN. After interviewing explosive and dynamic Flyers Nitty-Gritty founder/reporter Jamey Baskow and Former Flyer/Blazer all time WHA goal scorer Andre Lacroix, the boys have a good looking upcoming season 4. If you’re looking for a real fan experience, logical discussion and fan/player interview interactions, join Jesse Bell, Jake Long and Wayde O’ruska Jr in Flyers Alley.

The Three Pointer

The Three Pointer is our league wide NBA/NCAA basketball show on OCSN. Hosted by Brent Clemmer and long time friends Luke Eriksson, Brendyn Beck and Justin Brydges. These boys are from Toronto, Canada and cover everything from the NBA Draft to the NCAA Final Four. Don’t think just because they’re childhood friends that everything is free throws and slam dunks. When these boys start the hot topics, get ready for the heat. No fouls being called when you check out The Three Pointer. Benedictine College Guard Colby Nickels stood the heat, Can You?

The Blue Line Pre-Show

The Blue Line Pre-Show is our AHL league wide show hosted by Samantha Wismer of Flyers Nitty-Gritty and close friend/AHL expert Amanda Clauser. Blue Line is OCSN’s newest addition and right in time to cover the all the excitement of the Seattle Kraken Expansion Draft, which was heavily centered around AHL players being moved. They’re first episode was an interview with former Chicago Blackhawk, Syracuse Crunch goaltender Adam Munro and they absolutely crushed it. The AHL is such an untapped resource when it comes to the podcast world and Olde City Sports Network couldn’t have picked two better candidates to have at the helm of The Blue Line Pre-Show. Stay tuned for their articles, they’re going to turn heads!

The Dusty Beauts Hockey Show

The Dusty Beauts Hockey Show is OCS’ league wide NHL show. Hosted by WSHL/NAHL El Paso Rhinos and Midwest Blackbirds center/right-winger Brent “Clem” Clemmer and Flyers Alley host Jesse Bell. From literally different sides of the Canadian border, The Beauts cover the National Hockey League in a way, I can guarantee, you’ve never heard before. A Toronto Maple Leafs fan and a Philadelphia Flyers fan, come together to share with you their unbias opinion and interview some friends along the way including, Jon “Nasty” Mirasty, Brenden Bouvier, Tim Zittel and T.J. Nocar. Coming soon, Ian White, Marc “The Bear” Behrend, Brad Smith and Chris Glenwright. Grab a beer, wine seltzer or cider (if you’re Clem) and join The Dusty Beauts Hockey Show.

Rumble Fumble Live

If you didn’t play rumble as a kid, your childhood was a drag. Rumble Fumble Live, is our NFL league wide show. Hosted by Jake Long, Brendyn Beck, Brad Early and Luke Eriksson. Not only do they bring an unbiased opinion on a professional sports league that has its fair share of drama, have you ever heard two Philadelphia Eagles fans, a New York Giants fan and a Green Bay Packers fan try to get along? Sounds like a good time! If you’re ready to hit the field and want a unique NFL experience, get ready for some Rumble Fumble.

The Halftimers Podcast

The Halftimers Podcast are the newest members of the OCS family and boy, they do not disappoint. From down south in Louisiana, Hosted by Evan Hale and brothers, Corndog Jimmy (Ian Hale), Ivan Hale (he’s back in his hole) and best friend, Dylan “Burgy” Burgess, these four cover everything popping in sports today from Hot Dog Eating Competitions to the Olympics. If you don’t cry from laughter listening to these 4 there’s something wrong with you. Catch up with these guys on your favorite podcast apps asap. Boys down south do it better!

Every single show and anchor was chosen on this network for a reason. We have fun doing everything we do. If you’re not having fun and you’re doing podcasts and live shows……….what’s the point? If you’re a podcaster/live show anchor looking for a network, give us a shout out and let’s talk.
