OBJ Free Agency- By: Dylan Burgess
Odell Beckham Jr. is set to become a free agent at the conclusion of the 2022 season posing a big question for the Los Angeles Rams organization.
Could this be the last time Beckham puts on a Rams uniform?
I believe if Rams head coach Sean McVay wants to get Beckham and quarterback Matthew Stafford their first ring together, Beckham is gonna have to be a major contributor.
Meaning, Beckham will have to get a good amount of balls thrown his way to stay happy. That being said, if the Rams win the Super Bowl regardless of how many passes he catches, the Rams will be high on Beckham’s free agent list.
Beckham has found his love for football once again playing for the Los Angeles Rams since being released in early November by the Cleveland Browns. Many people, including myself, counted out Beckham because of his injury history and lack of production with the Browns.
I, like many others, believed he could never be a true number-one wide receiver ever again or even help a team reach the Super Bowl. While he may never be a true number-one receiver again he certainly has done more than enough to help get this Los Angeles Rams team to the biggest game of the year.
Since joining the Rams, in 11 games Beckham has gained 541 yards receiving and added 7 total touchdowns. Beckham’s biggest performance came last week when he surpassed the 100-yard mark in receiving yards and was a vital part in helping his team beat the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.
Beckham paired with wide receiver Cooper Kupp, a fully healthy running back in Cam Akers and obviously Stafford the Rams are in great position to win the Super Bowl.
Beckham is the direct beneficiary to the double coverage treatment that Kupp receives from the opposing teams. If Beckham can win his one-on-one battles, this Rams team has a real shot at their first title on this side of the millennium.
