NFL Week 1- Three in the Keystone: By Adam Seltzer

Welcome Ladies & Gentlemen to Three In The Keystone, Article 1.  Writing is a bit of a new venture for the group, but we are hoping to bring some value and entertainment to your football Sundays.

Rewind 5-7 years ago and gambling was a giant faux pas.  If you didn’t have a bookie or an overseas account, there was no way get any action.  With recent legalization, there are a bevy of sportsbooks begging you to place bets with them, where you can get in on anything from the spread of a NFL game to who will score the first basket in tonight’s WNBA clash of the LA Sparks and New York Liberty (give me Nneka Ogwumike at +500, just a hunch).

Regardless of what your wager size is, gambling has added to the intrigue of sports and we are going to take the opportunity to compete amongst our group all season long.

Each week we are going to make 5 picks for the Sunday in the NFL, including our best bet, which will count as two games in our record.  We will keep it simple with spreads and totals and hope you enjoy.

I did ask Chris and Al to put some explanation on their picks, but as teachers, they aren’t good at following directions, so hopefully next week.

Al’s picks : Cleveland +2.5, Green Bay +1.5, Seahawks/Rams o45.5, Broncos -4, Steelers +2.5 (best bet)

Chris’s picks : Lions +4.5, Vikings -6, Ravens -10, Giants +3.5, Bengals -2.5 (best bet)

Adam’s Picks :

Cleveland +2.5 – not sure Burrow is completely healthy, road divisional game, give me the home dog.

Las Vegas +4 – until Denver proves to me that they’re offense is worthy of laying 4 points, I’ll take the Raiders with a QB who should be able to keep it close.  Also, Jeudy questionable, JWilliams first game back from injury.

Jacksonville -4.5 – very bullish on Jacksonville as you’ve heard on the pod.  Richardson will have a learning curve, I don’t see Indy scoring more than 17, so thinking the Jags can get to 21+.

New Orleans -3 – I’m a believer in the Saints D and while I’m not a Carr guy, he’s a major upgrade from Dalton.  Michael Thomas is healthy, and Olave is ready to breakout.

Cleveland/Cincinnati u48.5 (best bet) – as noted above, Burrow not healthy.  Cleveland D can get after the QB and I think they will lean on the running game with Chubb.
