Nationals Avoid Sweep
The Washington Nationals ended the Phillies four game winning streak, and avoided being swept, as they won on Thursday night, 4-2.
Philadelphia broke the scoreless duel in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Max Kepler hit a one-out double to left center. Then, Alec Bohm hit a line single to right center that scored Kepler, and made it 1-0.
The Nationals, then came back in the top of the 6thinning. C.J. Abrams led off with a double to right, then with one out, first baseman Nathaniel Lowe singled to right, which scored Abrams, and making it a 1-1 game.
Then, catcher Keibert Ruiz hit a ball down the right field line, and Bryce Harper whiffed on the play, and Ruiz went to third on a 3-base error, that scored Lowe, and giving Washington a 2-1 lead. Luis Garcia Jr., then made it 3-1 by serving a single to left field.
Washington got the fourth run in the inning, as with runners on the corners, Dylan Crews was trying to steal second, and get in a rundown, but catcher Rafael Marchan threw the ball into center field, and that scored Garcia. Overall, a disastrous inning.
The Phillies did cut it to 4-2, on an RBI single by Nick Castellanos, but they could not get anymore offense against the relievers from Washington.
Phillies starter, Taijuan Walker, was dominating for the first five innings, including retiring ten batters in a row, however the sixth inning, was his kryptonite, as overall he went 5 2/3 innings, and allowed four runs, although only one was earned .

The Phillies will stay home, as the Arizona Diamondbacks come in for a weekend series, and Jesus Luzardo will get the ball on Friday night.
