Meet Hershey Bears Hendrix Lapierre
At the age of 20, Hendrix Lapierre, is doing what most young men his age only wish they could do in his sport, and that is play professional hockey. Hendrix is a center playing on the Washington Capitals American Hockey League affiliate team the Hershey Bears.
Lapierre was selected 22nd overall during the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals. In October of 2020, he was signed to a 3 year entry level contract. He had 3 seasons with major junior hockey with the team Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the QMJHL. In that time, he played 88 games and tallied 23 goals, 70 assists for a total of 93 points. He also had 17 PIMs. He had playoff experience in 2 of 3 seasons that he was with Chicoutimi. In the 2018-2019 playoffs, he played in 4 games and netted 3 goals and 2 assists. During the 2020-2021 playoffs, he tallied 5 goals and 7 assists. He was then traded to Acadie-Bathurst Titan for two junior players and four draft selections in June of 2021. Hendrix made his NHL Debut for the Capitals in October of 2021 in a home game against the New York Rangers. He scored his first NHL goal during the second period with an assist from T.J. Oshie. He returned to Acadie-Bathurst Titan to complete a junior season and played 40 games and netted 21 goals and 30 assists for 51 points.
During this season with Hershey Bears, so far, Hendrix has played in 20 games and tallied 5 goals with 9 assists. He is playing a very big role in the lineup for the Bears and expect to see big things out of this player this season, possibly even a call up to the Capitals pending his progress and their needs.
