Eagles vs Cowboys: A Crucial Match-up by Chris Lahiff

As we approach the crucial matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, it’s no shock to see that Nick Sirianni has decided to start Kenny Pickett this Sunday due to the Jalen Hurts still being in concussion protocol. With a career record of 17-12, Pickett has shown promise, especially in high-pressure situations. His experience during his rookie season with the Steelers, where he led them to a 6-1 finish ,gives hope that he can rise to the occasion again.

The stakes are high for the Eagles; a win would clinch their third division title in four years and secure at least the #2 seed in the playoffs.

The Eagles have always valued the backup quarterback position, and made it a priority to add experience and skill behind Hurts when they sent a 2024 fourth-round draft pick (No. 98 overall) and two seventh-round draft picks in 2025 to the Steelers to acquire Pickett and a 2024 fourth-round draft pick (120th overall) that was flipped to Miami in exchange for a 2025 third-round selection. His playing time has been limited, of course, as Hurts guided the Eagles to a 12-2 record heading into Sunday's game at the Commanders.

While some fans are calling for Tanner McKee, I believe starting Pickett is the right choice. Given the weather conditions, we can expect a heavy reliance on Saquon Barkley, who is just 268 yards shy of the NFL rushing record. With the Cowboys missing their top weapon, Ceedee Lamb, this game presents a unique opportunity for Pickett to lead the Eagles to victory. I’m predicting a close game, with the Eagles edging out the Cowboys 21-13.
