Dodgers Beat the Phillies 3-1
Following, a playoff like atmosphere, in which the Phillies defeated the Los angeles Dodgers on Friday night, they had to Roki Sasaki, who pretty much everyone wanted to sign as an international free agent from Japan. Well, the combination of dominating pitching from Los Angeles and timely hits, propelled the Dodgers to a 3-1 win at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Phillies scored first in the bottom of the first inning, as Kyle Schwarber reached on a leadoff single, then Trea Turner hit a single to right, that advanced Schwarber to third. Schwarber than scored, courtesy on an Alec Bohm groundout, that made the score, 1-0.
The top of the second inning, Los Angeles responded off of Phillies starter, Aaron Nola. Max Muncy hit a one-out double to right, then with two outs, Kiki Hernandez, who is replacing an injured Freddie Freeman, took a knuckle curve pitch, and sent it over the left field wall for his 3rd home run of the year, and making the score, 2-1.
Philadelphia had a chance to do damage in the bottom of the fifth inning. J.T. Realmuto walked; Bryson Stott then singled. After Sasaki was pulled after 67 pitches, which was surprising, Anthony Banda came in and got Marsh to fly out, then got Schwarber to fly into a double play, as Stott could not get back to first base.
The Dodgers extended the lead to 3-1, as Michael Conforto hit his 16th career home run at Citizens Bank, thanks to a cutter over the middle of the plate, and putting into the right field seats.
Sasaki went four innings, and allowed only two hits, while Nola went six innings, and allowed seven hits, and once again the home run bug caught him, as he allowed two more home runs.
Besides Sasaki, the Dodgers bullpen, consisting of Banda, Ben Casparius, Alex Vesia and Tanner Scott shutdown Philadelphia’s bats, as after the first inning, the Phillies only had two hits for the rest of the game.
Philadelphia will be right back at it. To close out the home stand. The Dodgers will have Tyler Glasnow on the mound, as he will face Cristopher Sanchez with first pitch schedule for 1:35 p.m.
