Wheeling Nailers: Tyler Burnie Signed for the 2025-2026 Season
On August 12th, 2025, Wheeling Nailers, ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, announced they have signed forward Tyler Burnie for the 2025-2026 season.
Entering his second professional season, the 26 year old will suit up for the Wheeling Nailers after having played for the Rapid City Rush and the Allen Americans in the 2024-2025 season. In the span of 51 games with Rapid City, Burnie earned five goals and eight assists. In March, he was traded to the Allen Americans where he played in 14 games and earned two goals and four assists.
Before turning to the professional ranks, the Ontario native played in three seasons at Brock University in the 2021-2022, 2022-2023, and 2023-2024 seasons. During the span of 62 games with Brock, he averaged nearly a point per game in his final two seasons and finished second on the Brock team in goals during both seasons. During his final season he was named OUA West Second Team All-Star having 15 goals and 18 assists in 27 games. Burnie played with Cole Tymkin in college and in the GOJHL Caledonia Corvairs. Tymkin was also announced to having a contract for the 2025-2026 season with the Nailers.
