Connor McDavid is on a torrid pace to start the season. We are 10 games into the new season, and he already has 22 points, and is on pace for well over 150 points this year. This is a feat that has not been accomplished in 25 years. The question is can he do it?

McDavid has every attribute you’d want in a player, great size at 6’1 193 lbs, electric speed, superb vision, great hands, and the ability to finish. He was called a generational talent during his draft year, and so far he has not disappointed. In 417 games played, he already has 596 points, 203 goals and 393 assists, and is widely regarded as the best player in the game and all this at the age of 24. The only blemish on his record has been the ability to win a playoff series.

Can he do the task and reach 150 points this season? Only time will tell, but barring injury he most certainly has what it takes to finish the season strong and be the first to do it since Mario Lemieux in the 95-96 season where he had 70 goals and 91 assists.  More importantly, will this be the year his teampushes through to the second round of the playoffs? I’d like to believe so, but this is a team sport and defense wins championships.
